Sports Premium Funding

At St. Margaret’s Infant School, we recognise that physical activity has numerous benefits for our children’s physical health as well as their mental wellbeing. We believe children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers.  We are passionate that our Physical Education provision plays a key role in developing confidenthappy learners who are motivated to achieve highly, always showing respect for others and have a determination to do their best.  We provide pupils with opportunities to learn about eating healthily and maintaining an active lifestyle.

We use our sports premium in the following ways to meet our aims and enhance our provision.

Engaging pupils in regular physical activity:

  • providing Beam sessions to targeted children
  • designated staff to encourage active play during break times and lunchtimes
  • providing a wide range of resources to stimulate active play at break times

Raising the profile of PE across the school and embedding it within the school day:

  • engaging in the walk to school initiative to promote active travel to and from school
  • utilising outdoor resources to enable active break times

Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE:

  • working with sports coach to enhance and extend curriculum opportunities

Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils, for example by:

  • opportunities for children to take part in outdoor pursuit activities by outside specialist provider
