Corinne Kerbey- Chair of Governors |
I am delighted to have been invited to hold the position of Chair of Governors at St Margaret's Infant School. I am Corinne Kerbey and I joined the governing body in September 2019. I am a local mum with a daughter who has just joined St Margaret’s Infant School. I have been a teacher in Kent and Medway schools for 10 years and am passionate about Infant School education. In my spare time, I am a local Brownie leader, so community is very important to me and our town. I find governance of schools fascinating and really want to add value to the board and contribute to the education of the children that go through this school, which is so friendly and has a fantastic ethos.

Vice Chair and Co-opted Governor |
I am Lesley Dennis and I became Vice Chair in July 2018 and a Co-opted Governor on St. Margaret’s Infant Governing Body in September 2014. I have previously been both a Parent and Staff Governor at this school. My roots are not in the Medway Towns. I was born and grew up in Folkestone. I moved from there to pursue a career in nursing towards the end of the 1960’s.
Following marriage and three daughters I decided to train as a teacher at Christ Church Canterbury, qualifying in the early ‘90s. I was a teacher at this school for many years, having spent my entire teaching career there. I still go into school two afternoons a week to listen to children read, and use my skills to both encourage and give confidence to the children who need it. The staff at St. Margaret’s have always tried to achieve and maintain high standards, whilst providing an appropriate education for the individual child. In becoming a governor I will try to ensure that the school achieves high standards for all the children. At the same time making it a happy place to both work and learn. |
Parent Governor |
I am Craig Beer and I joined the Governing body in May 2016 as a parent governor. I have worked in education for the last 14 years and currently and the Finance and IT Manager at a large secondary academy. Prior to my current employment I worked in finance for 10 years at a local authority. I am a qualified school business manager and a graduate member of the Institute of Leadership and Management. At St.Margaret’s. I am the chair of the Finance and Resources committee and the governor lead on health and safety. I have two boys who attended this wonderful school. We chose this school over other closer schools for its reputation of excellence and providing a caring and nurturing environment which is so important at this age. The staff here work so hard to educate and grow our children, that any time we can volunteer to play a small part is gratefully given. The governing body is made up of normal folk who just want to make a difference and make this school better. We and the PTA give our time freely in the hope that we can guide St.Margaret’s into a brighter future. |

Parent Governor |
I’m Mark Butterfield and after spending both my childhood and adult years living in Rainham, with my brother and I both attending St Margaret’s Infants and Juniors, I have fond memories of the school and welcomed the opportunity to become Parent Governor and support their continued development. Since joining in 2017 I have been hugely impressed with the drive for improvement and passion shown by the Senior Leadership Team and how this is filtered down creating such a strong and encouraging ethos. I continue to live locally and have two young children, the oldest of which attends St Margaret’s Infants. My hope is for both children to attend this fantastic school and share my appreciation for the service it provides to the local community. After spending the last 15 years in Finance, I am a Chartered Accountant and employed as Group Financial Controller for a national recruitment business. Along with the rest of the Governors, I hope our skill set will provide the guidance and support required for the school to continue achieving. |
